Indiana Dunes State Park

This day trip was a very long day but one of the best days ever! My mom and I left about 6:30AM and got home about midnight, with a total drive time of a little over seven hours. All in all it was soo worth it.

We started the day by hiking trail nine (about a four mile roundtrip) which has been voted one of the best trails in Indiana, after walking I can see why. We walked the loop counterclockwise which I think was a good call as we got a portion of the wood trail out of the way first to take in the *no offense* but a better loop view towards the end. (I’m a save the best for last type of person.)

Note: you can see Chicago from up here

We then ate at El Cantarito a couple minutes outside of the park in Chestertown which had great portions for the lunch menu at a great price. After that most of the day was spent at the beach in the park. We did get more food throughout the day but nothing else local.

Sunset^some days you can see Chicago as well but we didn’t that day

I really loved this day trip. We have already talked about coming back every year. If you have any recommendations for the park/general area please comment below!

I hope you enjoy! – Abigail
